For the first time in Europe, the public will be able to admire these layouts that are the genesis of all studio productions and prefigure what we see on the big screen, all the graphic material that is essential to animation process. For Isao Takahata, the layout is the key component in the production of an animated film. For every film, the layouts define the atmosphere of a scene, the decoration, composition, attitude and expression of the characters. This exhibition will show these beautiful drawings for the first time to the European public and pay tribute to the remarkable artistic qualities of Studio Ghibli.
For Hayao Miyazaki: “Animation is an illusion and the public is curious to see how it will dazzle.” What secrets will this journey into the designs of Takahata and Miyazaki reveal? Isao Takahata replied: “It depends on the imagination of every visitor.”
After the prestigious exhibitions “Pixar: 25 Years of Animation” and “The Art of Marvel Super-Heroes”, this new Art Ludique-Le Musée exhibition “Drawings from Studio Ghibli: The secrets of layouts for understanding the animation of Takahata and Miyazaki” is a great opportunity to showcase the creators of these worlds that mark our imagination, and to introduce the public to the key artistic aspect which is at the source of these works that make you dream.
